Dear hikers, now that you have come to me, it would be a shame not to take advantage of the possibility to reach the top of the Roen (2116 masl), the highest peak of the Mendola mountain chain. The fastest route (about 1 hour) but above all the most fun, is the simple via ferrata that starts right behind me (trail 523) with a short but steep path. After the via ferrata, the signs will guide you through mugo pine forest to the top of the Roen. The view is breathtaking.
Want to reach the summit without tackling the via ferrata? No problem, trail 500 will take you to the summit in about 1 hour and 15 minutes.
A via ferrata is a route reserved for experienced hikers and therefore it is necessary to tackle it with appropriate equipment.
You think the fun's over here? Not at all! The road back to me is just as exciting. A cold beer is what it takes to recover... From the top of the Roen, continue south to Testa Nera and then follow the signs for the Sentiero dei Camosci (560), a spectacular path with equipped sections, also to be faced with the harness, which will take you back to the refuge.
The Sentiero dei Camosci can also be taken the other way round and is therefore the third way to reach the summit (approx. 2 hours).
If the crossing of a mountain range is not enough for you, here we definitely raise the pitch... I am an official stopover and resting point of the Sentiero Italia! Explore Italy along the CAI paths that cross the two great mountain ridges of the country, including the islands.
Stages: SI CO7 from Fondo to Rifugio Oltradige and SI CO8 from Rifugio Oltradige to Favogna
I'm also an ideal stage for the Alpenüberquerung, the ambitious crossing of the Alps, a trek that goes from Munich to Lake Garda!
